What is Fantasy Surfing League?
Yes, it’s another fantasy surfing game — but this one is different. No salary cap. No budget. No tiers. No mid-year cut. No elimination. Pick whoever you want, as many times as you like.
Fantasy Surfing League is an online game that follows the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour schedule. For each event, you build a team of surfers and compete for prizes.
Prizes are awarded for each event throughout the season — including Men’s, Women’s and combined team categories.
How do I join?
It’s simple:
- Pay a $10.00 USD membership fee.
- Create your Fantasy Surfing League account.
The league follows the official WSL event schedule. If the tour is cancelled, your membership will either be rolled over to the next season or refunded — your choice.
Game Rules
For each WSL Championship Tour event, you must select exactly:
- Four (4) male surfers
- Four (4) female surfers
- No more. No less. Only active surfers for that event will be available.
Picking your team
- Log in to your Fantasy Surfing League account.
- From the list of men’s and women’s surfers, select 4 men and 4 women.
- Submit your team before the event starts.
- If you do not make your picks in time, your team will be given the maximum score for that event.
Changing your picks
You can change your surfers as many times as you like until the event waiting period begins. After that:
- If your surfer gets injured, bitten by a shark, gets sick, or pulls out — your team keeps them.
- And yes, that usually means you’ll be blessed with a lot of points.
Scoring — Low Score Wins
Every surfer earns points equal to the place they finish in each event.
- 1st place = 1 point
- 2nd place = 2 points
- 3rd place = 3 points, and so on…
- Last place has the highest points.
The goal is to have the lowest total points for your Men's team, Women's team, and combined team each event.
Lowest possible scores:
- Men’s side minimum: 10 points
- Women’s side minimum: 10 points
- Combined event minimum: 20 points
What happens in a tie?
With 58,905 possible Men’s team combinations and 10,626 Women’s team combinations, ties are guaranteed to happen — and that’s okay.
For event prizes (Men’s / Women’s / Combined), if multiple teams finish with identical scores, all tied players will be entered into a random wheel spin draw.
The draw will be done LIVE on social media for transparency.
Admins reserve the right to ask members to pick more than four surfers per event if needed. Any change will be announced before it takes effect.

FAQ & Fine Print
When does the league start?
The league follows the official WSL event schedule. If the tour is cancelled, we will either roll over your membership to the next season or refund your entry fee — your choice.
What if my surfer gets injured / bitten by a shark / gets sick / pulls out?
You can switch your surfers until the waiting period begins. After that, your team is locked — even if your surfer withdraws. That usually means more points.
How do I change my picks?
Just log in to your account and enter new picks before the start of the event. Your last submitted team before the event starts is the one that counts.
Can I enter multiple times?
No. One entry per person. Duplicate entries will not be allowed to win and may be deleted.
Is this gambling?
No. This is a skill-based game designed to be fun.
The admins are the final authority on all decisions affecting the contest, with the goal of keeping it fair and fun for everyone. If the tour is cancelled, we will roll over your entry to the next season or refund you.
