What is Fantasy Surfing League?

Fantasy Surfing League is an online game that follows the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour schedule. The goal is to earn the least number of points per event with your handpicked eight surfer team (four men and four women.) Low Score Wins.

How to play

Create your Fantasy Surfing League account. It’s free.

Log in to your account when trading opens. Pick and four (4) men and four (4) women for each event. Submit your team before trading locks. It’s that easy.

When trading closes and the event begins, sit back, tune in and follow along. May the best team win.

Admins reserve the right to ask members to pick more than eight surfers per event if needed. Any change will be announced before it takes effect.

Making Trades

Trading will open prior to the start of the event and will remain open until the start of the event waiting period. If you would like to swap out and swap in surfers, simply click the “Edit My Picks” button before the event trading closes.

No Trading

At 7:00 a.m. local event time on the first day of the waiting period, trading will be closed and locked.

Scoring — Low Score Wins

Each surfer earns points equal to the place they finish in each event.

  • 1st place = 1 point
  • 2nd place = 2 points
  • 3rd place = 3 points
  • For example, if Toldeo wins Snapper, he will receive one (1) point. If Griff is the runner up, he will receive two (2) points.
  • For the semi-finalists who do not advance (equal 3rd place on the WSL Rankings Page), the surfer with the higher heat total between the two will receive three (3) points. The other semi-finalist will receive four (4) points.
  • The remaining surfers will receive one point per event finish place.
  • The goal is to have the lowest total points for your team each event.
A perfect team score is 20 points.

FAQ & Fine Print

When does the league start?

The league follows the official WSL event schedule. Trading opens prior to the event and closes at 7am the first day of the event waiting period. Make sure you get your teams submitted and locked in. Keep a close eye on those global time zones.

What if my surfer gets injured / gets sick / pulls out?

If a surfer is injured, withdrawn, or does not start after trading closes, their score will equal their official finishing position. If no official finishing position is published, the surfer will be assigned the last-place score for that event.

Can I enter multiple times?

No. One entry per person. Duplicate entries will not be allowed to win and may be deleted.

Are you part of the WSL?

No. The World Surf League, Championship Tour, WSL and CT are trademarks of the World Surf League. Fantasy Surfing League is an independent fantasy game and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the World Surf League.
